Hong Kong Police: City On 'Brink Of Total Breakdown'

BBC: Hong Kong protests: Rule of law on 'brink of collapse', police say

Hong Kong's rule of law has been pushed to the "brink of total collapse" after more than five months of protests, police have warned.

The warning came a day after the territory saw a marked escalation in violence, with police shooting one activist in the torso.

A pro-Beijing supporter was later set on fire by anti-government protesters.

Protesters continued to clash with police on Tuesday in the central business district and at universities.

According to news agency AFP, hundreds of masked protesters were seen throwing bricks and other objects, while police used tear gas to force them back.

IMO the guy being set on fire is not good, not good at all for the protesters.

My spouse would not get involved or be very circumspect, but now that this guy was set on fire. When the government calls them 'hooligans', it will be believed.

IMO and I could be wrong the guy getting set on fire was a bigger watershed event than the guy getting shot.

We're almost 2/3 rds done with this drama. If we are not getting to end game we are getting close.

Timing could be off. Expected something after Oct 1st after all.

I believe an ordinary shop vendor in Tunisia immolated himself in protest of corruption which in turn began the first Arab Spring. Watching a man being martyred in fire elicits the most basic and Powerful of human emotions.

Yes, I strongly agree. I'm not that sure the "black clad" who put fire on the man was really a HK guy. China is in a great need of bad thing for going in an "humanitarian" intervention and take over Hong Kong.

Sorry Jac, I did not read, I skimmed. I'll stand by my analysis. The majority of 'news' consumers in the PRC will be appalled at the hooligans. I could be wrong.

If he is black clad and there is no facial recognition, this could be a false flag.

If it is a false flag it makes me think more so that the PRC will soon act.

Anon, I still agree with you for the "end game".
