Ever since WW2 is has been accepted wisdom that America will be numerically inferior.

The USSR had such a large army and kept it that way after WW2. China has a huge population.

So the the thinking was America has to be qualitatively better if they are not numerically greater. There is some truth to it.

Bit this concept has been taken to a spiral deathtrap.

Aldo there is a such a clamor of butter over guns that the more 'tails' (airplane tails) seen, the more the peacenicks and other rabble get upset about cost and other things.

Further, if any Americans die in combat or the kill ratio is not immediately and wildly favorable then there will be criticism.

Also too many people cannot be bothered being militia. It is a NIMBY like attitude.

Then there are our allies like Germany and Canada that do a lot of cost shifting letting the US pick up the tab. It makes for a greater burden for the US.

What happens when the Europeans pick up the burden. The US is not there. France picked up the burden in the 1980s. France defeated Libya during the "Toyota Wars" with very little money. As a consequence the US did not have to be in that area.

Copy cat.

It is a stochastic process (Which should scare the Hell out of everybody, if you really think about it).

The shooter already had the ideation and stress and chose to go forward (& cope with it that way) after learning about the Hawaii shooting. Really no news there.
