U.S. Navy Hospital Ship USNS Comfort Deployed To NYC With 1,000 Bed Capacity Is Only Treating A Handful Of Patients

CNN: Navy hospital ship deployed to NYC with 1,000 bed capacity is only treating 22 patients

A US Navy hospital ship currently docked in New York City harbor is treating only 22 patients as of Friday afternoon, despite having a 1,000 bed capacity to treat non-coronavirus patients, according to a US Navy official.

Navy officials told CNN that they expect the number of patients being treated to increase significantly in the coming days as the process of referring patients to the ship is refined.

The USNS Comfort was deployed to New York City, the epicenter of the virus outbreak in the United States, to free up capacity in the city's civilian hospitals so that they can focus on treating coronavirus patients.

New York City's hospitals have been overwhelmed with coronavirus cases and are struggling to respond to patients constantly streaming in. A shortage of personal protective equipment has also placed medical workers at risk of contracting the virus. On Thursday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that the temporary hospital facility at the Javits Convention Center, which holds 2,500 beds, will now treat Covid-19 patients.

"[T]he mistake is being made worldwide to report virus-related deaths as soon as it is established that the virus was present at the time of death – regardless of other factors. This violates a basic principle of infectiology: only when it is certain that an agent has played a significant role in the disease or death may a diagnosis be made.”

- Dr. Sucharit Bhakdi, Professor Emeritus of Medical Microbiology at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz

New York City’s government isn’t the only one worldwide doing this.

"They don’t distinguish between those who die with the disease and those who die from it.”

This calculus violates established scientific standards.

IMO regardless WNU is taking exactly the right precautions given the ages involved.

What you seem to be suggesting is that the models are wrong. I agree. In fact, I think the "experts" figured this out sometime ago hence no one gets to see their models and they are immune to criticism hiding behind the shield of "experts."

Often times the tendency of someone when they are "found out" is to double down on a flawed position. Some call it ideology. Whatever one calls it it is very destructive.

At some point Dr. Fauci and others will have some 'splainin to do. Essentially they shut down whole segments of the US economy based on flawed models.

I read that Dr. Fauci has beefed up his security detail. I say this means one of two things. 1.) He's already figured out the models are flawed. As such, the "peasants" whose economic lives he's destroyed may try and endure justice is served. 2.) He reallly is able to push his agenda to the fullest. In this case, there's going to be allot of hungry "peasants." In this case, he's going to need his security detail to fend off the starving "peasants" while he enjoys the finest of meals.

It's not my place to question the policies. All I can do is carefully observe what the government does and pray for wisdom that I will make the proper decisions to protect the lives of my family and our financial future.

"I read that Dr. Fauci has beefed up his security detail. I say this means one of two things."

It is bad that there are threats. It is good that he has extra security. You will always have people popping off, because they have reached the end of their rope, perceive an injustice real or imagined or are just crazy. If you want tot make Fauci miserable, the best way is to lampoon him. Peter Strzok and Lisa Page are very upset that people have made their live texts into a play.

"1.) He's already figured out the models are flawed. "

All forecast fail after a time. They teach that in school. Did they teach you how to couch or reword ideas in language to make them inflammatory?

"It's not my place to question the policies."

Because you live in Russia?
