Top Democrat On The U.S. House Intelligence Committee Knew About 'Russian Bounty' Intel Months Ago, But Did Nothing

The Federalist: Schiff Learned Of Russian ‘Bounty’ Intelligence In February, Withheld Information From Congress, And Took No Action

Schiff demands the Trump administration brief all of Congress about the unverified allegations, yet he himself did not ask for a briefing following the February briefing of his own staff.

Top committee staff for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, were briefed in February on intelligence about Russia offering the Taliban bounties in Afghanistan, but he took no action in response to the briefing, multiple intelligence sources familiar with the briefing told The Federalist. The intelligence was briefed to Schiff’s staff during a congressional delegation, or CODEL, trip to Afghanistan in February.

Schiff, who has acknowledged President Donald Trump was never briefed on the so-called intelligence, has thus far refused to disclose that his staff was personally briefed. The revelation raises serious questions that Schiff is once again politicizing, and perhaps even deliberately misrepresenting, key data for partisan gain.

Update: Adam Schiff Knew About 'Russian Bounty' Intel Months Ago, Did Nothing (Zero Hedge)

WNU Editor: I think the reason why the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) did not bother to pursue this further are the same reasons why President Trump was not briefed in the first place .... the evidence was not there. Now that the story is out there that he was informed a few months ago of a "possible" Russian bounty on US soldiers in Afghanistan, he has to respond if this is true or not. My gut tells me that this story true .... he or someone in his office was informed that some Afghan prisoners were talking about Russian bounties on US soldiers earlier this year. But considering his rhetoric of the past week where he has been condemning the President on this issue almost everyday (see above video), he cannot say now that he knew about this story a few months ago but did nothing. My prediction. Rep. Schiff is now going to go silent, the media are not going to press him on this story, and the story itself with all of its claims is going to disappear in the next few days.

Doesn't matter, the MSM still achieved 5 days of negative propaganda against the President that they will never have to answer for.

Schiff is NOT the president of the country
Whose role is it to initiate actions in such matters?
this is bullshit attempt to shift blame away from Trump.
Our editor, bless him, plays long with this gambit

To read your post is difficult. Especially since you are attempting to defend adam being adam. That's indefensible.

Yes. Adam Shiff is not the President.
He is the Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He is the one who is responsible for oversight, not the President.
If the story is true, he definitely failed in his oversight.

"Schiff is NOT the president of the country"

Kind of looks like F.R.L.'s work with the lack of punctuation, haphazard capitalization, and severe TDS.

Schiff is not the president of the country, but that does not absolve him of sounding an alarm. He has not been shy before, so why was he shy in that case?

Would F.R.L. please tell us the names of the peeing prostitutes? F.R.L. has had 5 years to find out.

F.R.L will never, ever tell us those names. EVER!

Because they don't exist.

THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF IS THE ONE TO TAKE ACTION
weak response. What is Schiff to do? impose sanction? wake up, Trump ?
order troops into action?
deflection is so easy when your man Trump is getting our troops killed

Anonymous said...

How do you know Trump's getting our troops killed?

Anonymous said...

Step 1. Schiff bring it to Congress's attention.

Step 2. Congress reviews information.

Step 3. If Congress believes information, they pass sanctions and pass it to president. Or they can declare war.

Step 4. President signs off on it or vetoes. If he vetoes Congress overrides him, if they have the votes.

FRL's solution(ws):

1. Declare war Russia.
2. Sharply worded letter to Putin
3. More sanctions on top of the mountain of sanctions

REVEALED: Russia Has been Paying Taliban to Kill US Soldiers Since 2014 – During Obama Years

Some jackwagon will defend Obama saying he did not know.

Which is probably true.

Cuz he had the all CIA spying on Americans.

YOU REALLY NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT THE ROLL OF OVERSIGHT IS BEFORE MAKING DUMB COMMENTS
Not once has Trump angrily banged a lectern and promised to get to the bottom of the stunning and heartbreaking story that Russian intelligence was paying lucrative bounties for the lives of American troops murdered in Afghanistan. Not once has Trump pledged to bring justice to the fallen. Not once since the story exploded nearly a week ago has Trump taken the side of the United States and vowed to protect and defend her.

The blockbuster bounty revelation is just the latest controversy to confirm Trump's sweeping and ongoing betrayal. "I don't think the Russians can believe their eyes and ears. It's not to be understood," stressed Retired US Army Gen. Barry McCaffery on MSNBC. "It's sickening on so many levels."

Indeed, the entire, centuries-old American experiment is now being threatened. The press needs to grapple with how it's going to cover one of the biggest, most dangerous stories in our history. Incredibly, not a single major newspaper has called for Trump to resign in the wake of the Russia bounty story, which has been confirmed over and over in recent days. Recall that more than 100 newspapers demanded Bill Clinton step down from office because he uttered a single false sentence under oath about his extramarital affair.

On the eve of the nation's 244th Independence Day celebration, it must be noted that the country is approaching a dangerous precipice rarely seen in its history. Facing an economic crisis, a run-away public health crisis, and a social justice crisis, Trump's America stands bare and vulnerable, as the president wages open warfare on the country.

Nearly half a million dollars in legal fees for Vice President Mike Pence were covered by a legal expense fund in 2019, according to a public financial disclosure report released this week. The new filing states that the fund’s private donors were required to certify that they are not federal government contractors or registered lobbyists, but at least three of the donors that were revealed in the filing are executives at companies that have contracts with the federal government, and one of those companies lobbies Congress through an outside firm.

Prohibitions like this, barring donations from lobbyists and government contractors, are usually meant as a deterrent to avoid the appearance or possibility of undue influence resulting from special interests seeking contracts or other favorable treatment from the government. The donations disclosed by Pence’s fund suggest, however, that either its rules weren’t stringent enough or perhaps they weren’t enforced, opening the door for potential conflicts of interest.

OVERSIGHT is to see something and say nothing to anyone?

Except a self serving leak to the press at a later date strategically timed for spin.

I think someone's kid is using daddy's name. Which would imply that said kid does not have a job.

I cannot reconcile the cognitive decline revealed in the interviews 20 years ago with the person posting now. Usually cognitive decline is progressive.

The White House held a Monday morning intelligence briefing for Congress, by which they mean that selected Republicans who have expressed their undying support for Trump were brought in to be given their talking points on how to describe this scandal. Probably something, something, Benghazi, email. Possible Benghazi, email, Ukraine. Democrats, and even most Republicans, were excluded from this get together stage managed by former Trump-supporting Congressmen Mark Meadows and John Ratcliffe, who modeled for their former colleagues the perks of being the best … at being the worst.

The talking point that Meadows and Ratcliffe appear to be pushing is that there was a lot of doubt behind the intelligence suggesting Russia was paying to put a target on Americans. Enough doubt, apparently, that the appropriate level of followup was none at all. This runs absolutely counter to the evidence which has emerged to show that, not only where British officials warned of the Russians scheme, but Trump was personally briefed by John Bolton at a meeting created solely for the purpose of briefing Trump on this one item. The information was also included in a widely read internal intelligence newsletter sent out at the beginning of May.

At a second briefing, Democrats were able to collect some information. Enough so that Adam Schiff paused to say, “I find it inexplicable in light of these very public allegations that the president hasn’t come before the country and assured the American people that he will get to the bottom of whether Russia is putting bounties on American troops and that he will do everything in his power to make sure that we protect American troops.”

Meanwhile, NBC News is now confirming earlier reports that Trump has known about this scheme for over a year. The intelligence was known a month before a car bomb attack in April 2019 that killed three Marines.

According to you " it absolutely runs counter to evidence that has emerged", now Bolton is your hero the font of truth, whereas before he was the devil incarnate you're going to have to make up your mind about that. You still have not produced ( beyond your imagination) any evidence to convince anyone.

He also hasn't provided evidence any troops died of this, rather sad he is.

Told ya, cut/paste troll. Fake story went poof just like I predicted. Now it has splattered back on the psychotic Adam Schiff. Not that a dereliction of duty on Schiff's part is any surprise.

The fake outrage over this fake story was just a bit too overwrought and a bit too coordinated.

/as if Dems actually give a rat's ass about our soldiers in the first place.

Schiff is perhaps the most repulsive politician, aside from Maxine Waters and Hillary Clinton perhaps. But he's up there.

Why would anyone knowingly lie so much? He must know how bad it is for the country. He must know the biggest benefit is China in all of this

Why China? Because the US is at war with China. It is full on war except for kinetic war. Most in the Intel community know this. And he's at the top chain of it. So why does he do all of these things? Why does he want to get rid of Trump who for years has been consistent and strong against China?

What do the Chinese have on him?
Looking at him I guess it's perhaps a video tape with him and hookers or something worse. He looks very very uncomfortable. Look at his eyes. This guy is borderline insane. He even played out/ enacted a fabricated phone call. Lied to the American people.

Why?

What do they have on him?

Also: how did they get that info? Is he using a Wuawei phone? Did he make a trip to China? Did something happen there in a hotel maybe?

Worth checking out.
