Comparing Covid-19 Death Tolls In 19 Countries With More Than Five Million Citizens

Looking at all the countries in the world, Belgium is actually not the worst-hit nation. San Marino is followed by Peru and then Belgium

 * US researchers compared Covid-19 death tolls in 19 countries with more than five million citizens
 * It found Belgium had the highest death toll per 100,000 people (86.8), followed by Spain (65)
 * But looking at all the countries in the world, Belgium is actually not the worst-hit nation
 * San Marino, with a population of 33,800, has suffered more. It's followed by Peru and then Belgium * The figures from Our World in Data reveal how much Western countries have fared worse compared with Asia

Belgium has suffered the most coronavirus deaths for the size of its population - while the UK and US are third and fourth, according to a study.

Researchers analysed data from 19 countries with more than five million citizens and compared how many Covid-19 victims there has been for every 100,000 people living there up until September 19. It revealed Belgium had the worst mortality rate (86.8), followed by Spain (65), the UK (62.6) and the US (60.3).

For comparison, South Korea's stood at just 0.7 - 85 times smaller than that of Britain or America.

WNU Editor: A few surprises in these stats. San Marino has the worst record for Covid-19 deaths per population.

San Marino and Andorra are not countries with more than 5 million people.

San Marino might have a skewed population. That is its population distribution might be more skewed to being older.

Age structure might explain the high deathrate. Or it might not.

Age structure
0-14 years: 16% (male 2,181; female 2,038)
15-64 years: 68% (male 8,992; female 9,425)
65 years and over: 16% (male 1,849; female 2,452) (2000 est.)

More Than 1,000 Current and Former CDC Officers Condemn U.S. Covid-19 Response - WSJ

There is our Fred Lapides. What a swell and crazy guy he is!

In argumentation theory, an argumentum ad populum (Latin for "appeal to the people") is a fallacious argument that concludes that a proposition must be true because many or most people believe it, often concisely encapsulated as: "If many believe so, it is so".

Why 100? If I were wrong, one would have been enough." - Einstein

yo! stalker. you have used that Einstein quote before.
Fact: what I posed is FACT. Your dismissal is horseshit
You want to argue with WSJ? Then put up (or shut the fuck up) your proof!!!

STALKER; You discount what reputable scientists say? right: the earth is flat. And right: no climate change. and right: Trump does not have 20 lawsuits in the courts for sexual harassment.
I AM OLD FASHIONED. And guess what? over a thousand scientists agree with Einstein's relativity theory..now shove that where the sun don't shine, asshole

The biggest crisis is pilot induced oscillation (PIO). PIO can kill you as in augur into the ground.

Commercial pilot/stock broker/actor Jerry Doyle often talked about pilot induced oscillation and how it could wreck things. The economy is a system. You can wreck it with lockdowns.

Have fun getting your meds from China 90% come from there. Hope you don't need anything.

Nope. I wait till the election is officially over. I do not live with the certainty that you seem to have and which has made your life so splendid.

If you hated CAPTCHA, reCAPTCHA is worse. It is CAPTCHA on steroids. You see those annoying images of signposts, cars, buses and traffic lights Google occasionally asks you to tag to prove you are not a robot? That is reCAPTCHA.

I may appear to be a bit hard on reCAPTCHA, but if you’ve ever spent a few precious seconds deliberating on whether the traffic light pole is part of the traffic light, or just abandoned Google for a few hours because you kept getting reCAPTCHA after reCAPTCHA, you will understand why I’m pissed off.

Why do you think reCAPTCHA only contains those things you only see while driving down a road, or to be more specific, those things a self-driving car will see while driving down a road?

It’s because Google is using reCAPTCHA to train its artificial intelligence for driverless cars. You are teaching driverless cars how to recognize objects, one reCAPTCHA at a time.

Google confirmed this on its developer blog at the time it introduced reCAPTCHA in 2012. It said it was “redirecting the efforts” we put into solving CAPTCHA into improving machine learning. As if anyone ever said they loved solving CAPTCHA.[2]

The Einstein quote flew right over your head. Also, you keep repeating the same logical fallacy over and over.

A hundred scientists said Einstein was wrong. Of course it was political pressure in Einstein's case. There is political pressure now. A lot of it.

So these dweebs are complaining about the guidelines on contact tracing being changed in August. I am just not on that page. My state has a thousand or more contact tracers. Governor Gravy Train has not said that he needs more. I am not worried about contact tracing.

What bugs me is the flip flopping on masks. You have never answered how a virus or an assemblage of viruses smaller than the mask mesh size can be stopped by masks.

What bugs me is telling me that I can't work because someone is diabetic and might die, if they catch COVID. It is not my fault that they are diabetic.

What bugs me is that Democrat have done a cost benefit analysis about lockdown. They have determined that, while it hurts most Americans, it helps them politically.

Democrats do not care how many people die of cancer or depression. They do not care if more people dies of cancer and depression than die of COVID.

All Democrats care about is Team (D) winning.

Even WHO is against lockdowns now. So why do we have them?

ANSWER: DEMOCRAT POWER!

It is my belief that Fred posted the following

Fred does believe that Biden will win. That is why he is posting under his name again. He feels as though he can hold his head up high if his team wins the superbowl or his political candidate wins the presidency.

WHO Reverses Course Again, Now Condemns Lockdowns Over ‘Economic Consequences’

The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganize, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted, but by and large, we’d rather not do it.”

WHO envoy, Dr. David Nabarro

So what Democrat governors are doing is shear political belligerence aiming to hurt the average citizen, so as to induce them to vote Democrat.

Fred, your comment rings hollow. No one is an expert on the virus yet. If so humans wouldn't be undergoing yet another growth in numbers of infected.
I think history will be the judge of the correct method for dealing with yet another chinese import.

No one is an expert? sorry. There are experts and specialists and they know what to do to prevent contamination and they know how to treat it--see, for example, Mr Trump...and they know how to test for it. They do not as yet have a proven vaccine. All you need do is examine why numbers are again going up and ask why there was no real problem in New Zealand and what they did.
7:44 Gateway is, alas, making fools of themselves. Rudy is a drunk and admits that there is a 50% chance of Russian interference in this! Now if there is truly anything really questionable (legally) you can bet Barr would have been all over it. He is not. Why?
