Global Coronavirus Cases Rose By More Than 500,000 For The First Time

Reuters: Global coronavirus cases rise by single-day record of half a million

(Reuters) - Global coronavirus cases rose by more than 500,000 for the first time on Wednesday, a record one-day increase as countries across the Northern Hemisphere reported daily spikes.

Global daily COVID-19 cases have risen by nearly 25% in less than two weeks as the world witnessed 400,000 daily reported cases for the first time last Friday.

Most western countries and parts of Latin America have reported their highest single-day surges in the past few weeks. Many governments, with the notable exception of the United States, have started taking stronger measures to bring the spread of the virus under control.

The global coronavirus tally stands at 44.7 million cases and about 1.17 million deaths. Europe, North America and Latin America account for over 66% of global cases and over 76% of global deaths.

It doesn't seem to matter to this virus what season it is.

COVID is still burning though nursing homes. Newsmongers relayed that Greenfields Nursing home had 2 deaths the other day. They said Greenfields had a problem. Two people died there last week.

I keep hearing the names of nursing homes pop up over and over that they are mentioned more often than New York City, Boston St Louis, Chicago, Dallas and LA. So I look them up in the internet and google maps.

It is astonishing. The have huge campuses rivaling Microsoft Redmond Campus, Googleplex or an Ivy League Quad.

Looking at a bird's eye view of a campus and you see there is not place to walk not even around the block. There are many reason not to walk from falls, lack of supervisory manpower, cost, and people wandering off.

But we are told that exercise has this wonderful effect on the body. How about for old people?

Or maybe there is no need for most residents?

The length of stay data were striking:

^ the median length of stay in a nursing home before death was 5 months
^ the average length of stay was longer at 14 months due to a small number of study
^ participants who had very long lengths of stay
^ 65% died within 1 year of nursing home admission
^ 53% died within 6 months of nursing home admission

Or maybe there is no use for sidewalks for walking. What about for staff? If staff could get outside, stretch and not be so pasty, maybe they would be healthier to be around? They do get breaks.

Why are we getting upset about COVID anyway? Stopping COVID is as possible to stop as the jet stream. I am sure we could build wall and stop it. And then it would just go around or over.

The envelope of a corona virus is not made up of titanium.

People with coronavirus are crossing the US-Mexico border for medical care

Texas is experiencing a spike not because they are a red state and are Deliverance types. If you want a Deliverance Type you have to go to the East or West Coast. They are experiencing a spike because they are red state and they have functioning infrastructure.

I think the burden should be shared. We should have mercy flights from the Texas border to New York or Silicon Valley.

"It's an unprecedented surge across the border," says Carmela Coyle, president and CEO of the California Hospital Association.

Yup, Trump's fault!

Liberals are freaking lying morons.

In TX bordering a 3rd world country we are always going to be somewhat vulnerable.
