The United States recorded 99,321 new COVID infections on Friday, smashing a single-day record set just 24 hours earlier.
Friday's number is a significant increase on the 88,521 infections clocked on Thursday - the previous record - which suggest the coronavirus pandemic is rapidly worsening as the country heads into winter.
Prior to Thursday, the highest number of single-day infections was 83,718, recorded last Saturday.
In total, 9,091,306 Americans have now become infected with the virus, accounting for more than 20 percent of all confirmed cases worldwide.

Isn't it funny how this virus' second wave(the one with more draconian lockdowns and even more people's business and livelihoods destroyed) is perfectly timed for the US election?
And isn't it funny how China seems to be the only country with no major outbreaks, despite 1.5bn population?
And isn't it funny how the Chinese made so much money off this all and how our left media shouts us down with the typical "you're racist" terror branding if we dare to ask questions about its origin? How we are labelled conspiracy theorists just because we wonder what's going on?
Doesn't take a genius to see what's going on here. Biden has proven deep ties to China and he promised to lock us down and hurt us more. We know about his son's Chinese girl pedo stuff and how the Chinese exert power over him.
We need an investigation for the Biden's treasonous behaviour, but we also need to urgently address the China question
If China did this, and it looks like it, they're the ones profiteering of it and amplified our lock down response through meddling and disinformation campaigns, then we need to have a talk about the future of China.
Anyone who is responsible for this largest crime against humanity, willing to hurt civilians and hurting the future of our children has to cease to exist.
I'm left a leaning(not a Democrat) libertarian and against the death penalty and I'm usually against war.. but this is beyond anything I've ever witnessed.
What shocks me almost more is that even the Chinese I know living in Europe don't Express any sign of remorse. Instead they seem to be somewhat cheerful and excited for the rise of China on the ashes of our economies.

They also may take the wheel (Celtic) view. The wheel turns and after suffering their group is doing well.
If you have quasi-intellectual belief or rationalize belief in the wheel theory, you are "happy", when your group is doing well and unhappy when they are not.

The chart seems odd in it's regularity. Low in deaths followed by a sharp spike for 5 days[?] large drop for a day or two then spike.
I can't see the figures clearly so the days may be weeks but the cyclical nature of the beast is evident and hard to believe on a national basis considering the vast areas in America. Where I live has hardly a case of this stuff as far as I know and there's certainly elderly and or overweight folks out here.
Chart seems real. Kind of like the tides or a heartbeat.
Depending on the granularity of the x axis it could look like the uniform distribution. Say if you chose a period of months instead of weeks.
The number of bins you chose affects results. There are rules of thumb for choosing the # of bins or mesh size.

The deaths are by DAY.
The low days are Sunday and Mondays.
Maybe more of a clerical thing?
Or people if they are aware just give up at the end of the week?
Maybe care givers put less effort into toward the end of the week. You could actually test for that. I would compare at home to nursing home deaths.
If you want to live, you get part time hospice care. That is my goal anyway. I've only had one elderly relative die in a hospital. That is one too many. People should die at home not in a facility/factory.
