2020 Is The Deadliest Year In U.S. History

Preliminary CDC figures suggest 2020 will be the deadliest year in U.S. history with more than 3.2 million deaths (above)

 * Preliminary CDC figures suggest 2020 will be the deadliest year in U.S. history with a record 3,260,397
 * The 2020 death toll is approximately 15% higher than the 2,835,533 Americans who died in 2019
 * Other deadly years include 1,430,079 deaths in 1918, the year of the Spanish Flu pandemic; 1,459,544 deaths in 1943, amid World War II; and 1 ,930,082 deaths in 1968 at the height of the Vietnam War
 * It includes more than 347,000 people in the U.S. who died of COVID-19
 * One study found an additional 75,000 people died indirectly due to the pandemic such as delaying seeking life-saving medical care
 * CDC data also shows a record 81,000 died of drug overdoses, mainly due to opioids such as fentanyl

Preliminary figures suggests 2020 will be the deadliest year in U.S. history.

A record 3,260,397 people died last year, which public health experts says is due to COVID-19, indirect pandemic deaths and overdoses.

That figure is about 15 percent higher than the 2,835,533 Americans who died in 2019, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

WNU Editor: The scary part is that these death numbers could have been worse. Some models last year were predicting 2.2. million deaths from Covid-19 alone in their worst case scenarios .... How One Model Simulated 2.2 Million U.S. Deaths from COVID-19 (CATO Institute).

The scary part is people in general cannot and will not calculate the departure of the 2020 deaths from the trendline. Demographers will. Why won't people? The math is not actually that hard.

2019 was a low year (below the long term trendline).
2020 was a high year (above the long term trendline).

Comparing the difference of 2019, which was below 2018, to 2020 is going to look larger than the difference of 2020 to the trendline.

If one use the method of seasonal series to look at the data. It will tell you something completely different than what Duke and Dauphin politicians will espouse.

There is a 4 or 5 year cycle with respiratory outbreaks. That is the cycle length. The cycle length is different than the one for wildfires, but the underlying cause is the same.

We have excess deaths?

Let's count the excess death from deaths caused by respiratory viruses every season.

Let's count excess deaths form government intervention:

* One study found an additional 75,000 people died indirectly due to the pandemic such as delaying seeking life-saving medical care

* CDC data also shows a record 81,000 died of drug overdoses, mainly due to opioids such as fentanyl

Here is a pro-tip "additional" and "record" mean excess deaths from a typical year.

Those excess deaths from delaying medical care and overdoses are government caused. They care so much! Doubt it? People died in overdoses, because government officials 'gave' drug users private hotel rooms to 'save;' them from COVID. When they OD'd, there was no one there to see it and call 911. Hospitals canceled cancer and other screenings, because of government induced hysteria. So sure there are more deaths in 2020 than predicted by a trendline created by linear regression, but many OMG!, large excess deaths were caused by government.

Defective product coming off an assembly line is treated better than how liberals treat drug addicts.

The 2.2M works out to be almost identical in terms of % of the population as the 675K who died in in 1918 during the flu pandemic of that era. Essentially the 2.2M was a number someone polled out of thin air based upon that pandemic. In a normal world the purveyors of this model would have lost all credibility long ago.

With that said if the vaccines don't work or the virus mutates to quickly for the vaccine makers to keep up we may yet reach 2.2M deaths. The issue is compounded by the shenanigans involved in counting both cases and deaths. The disease is a serious problem. The government response as exemplified by people like Dr Fauci is even worse.

Also, gross numbers don't tell us much. As a % this thing pales in comparison to the Civil War but some must spread their fear porn.
