Will Former President Trump Start A New Political Party?

Donald Trump has discussed setting up his own political party in recent days, a new WSJ report says.

 * The outgoing president is said to have spoken with aides about the idea, The Wall Street Journal first reported
 * It is not known how serious he is in going ahead with the party, which would take a lot of time and money
 * Trump on Tuesday vowed to be a continued presence in D.C., noting his 'movement' is 'only just beginning'
 * But his vow to stay a force in politics could cause some Republicans to squirm; Trump divided Republicans among those who supported his isolationist agenda and those who disliked his harsh rhetoric
 * Many Republicans want to see him fade quietly away but others fear his supporters - 74 million cast their ballot for Trump in November - could be an influence in the party's primaries for years to come
 * Mitch McConnell said Tuesday Trump 'provoked' the crowd who stormed the Capitol two weeks ago
Donald Trump has reportedly discussed forming a new political party called the Patriot Party after telling supporters the 'movement we started is just beginning' in his farewell address to the nation.

The outgoing president is said to have spoken with aides about the idea, The Wall Street Journal first reported.

It is not known how serious he is in going ahead with the idea. Trump on Tuesday vowed to be a continued presence on the political stage, noting his 'movement' is 'only just beginning.

'Now, as I prepare to hand power over to a new administration at Noon on Wednesday, I want you to know that the movement we started is only just beginning,' he said.

WNU Editor: It is not going to happen. I know Progressives/Democrats are hoping that such a party will be formed, but aside from an anonymous source to the WSJ, I see no evidence of this happening.

He won't start a new political party, but he may start a new television network.

I think the GOP is going to have a civil war. If Trump keeps pounding the Establishment GOP, the other 70+ million GOP voters can take the party back. But it will mean primarying the RINO's, which the voters have not shown a willingness to do. Having RINO's like Murkowski, Collins, and Romney is NOT better than losing to a Democrat. The Fascists (they call themselves Democrats) learned this lesson, and are squeezing out the centrists.

Watch how fast Manchin becomes a hard left ideologue now.

Not happening I'd think. What will happen is a huge crushing defeat of the Old Guard, the left over Babay Boomer duds from the 60's who won't leave.

But If McConnel pushes for an actual, real impeachment all Republicans who vote for impeachment and the Dems in Red states will be voted out of office.

McConnel would probably face a recall and be crushed. Cheneys Never Trump do nothing daughter would be out so quick in 2022 she won't know what hit her, if she can even survive a primary.

I can see it happening due to the fact McConnel has already voiced the intent to impeach Trump and purge the party of Trump supporters. Those Trump supporters will need a home.
