'We Found Out From The Press' Says French Ambassador To The U.S. On The Scrapped Australian Submarine Contract

New York Times: The Secret Talks Behind the U.S. Deal That France Called a ‘Betrayal’

According to French officials, Mr. Blinken also stayed silent on June 25 when his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, welcomed him back to Paris — where Mr. Blinken spent his high school years — and extolled the importance of the French submarine deal.

And as recently as Aug. 30, when the French and Australian defense and foreign ministers held their annual “consultation,” they issued a joint communiqué that said the two countries were committed to deepening cooperation in the defense industry and “underlined the importance of the Future Submarine program.”

By that time, the Australians not only knew the program was dead, they had nearly sealed the agreement in principle with Washington and London.

WNU Editor: The job of a diplomat is to know what is happening in the country that they are based in before it makes the news. This is done by developing and cultivating contacts and friendships with an understanding that they will be in the "loop" when a decision is made.

That definitely did not happened in this case, and the French have a right to be upset. You do not treat allies like this.

The French now view both the U.S. under the Biden administration and Australia under the Morrison administration as untrustworthy .... France accuses Australia and US of ‘lying’ in escalating crisis (AFP). More here .... Aukus: French minister condemns US and Australia 'lies' over security pact (BBC).

You can also take this to the bank.

This is going to have consequences on U.S. - French relations, and beyond.

The trust that Biden committed himself to the Afghan people was broken, and now this.

Foreign governments are seeing a pattern, and this will impact their foreign policy decisions.

'We Found Out From The Press' Says French Ambassador To The U.S. On ...

We were told that Biden would repair relations with Europe. Joe had 50 years of experience in DC or something or rather.

Proof is in the pudding. Did France or other country cancel galas or recall Ambassador?

Note recalling ambassadors is easily measurable or countable. It is real

So are articles and editorials by the Washington Compost or New York Slime whining about Trump could or has damaged relations. You can count the articles us LexisNexis. It is called propaganda. You can measure the size of a propaganda offensive by how many guns or barrels they have lined up wheel to wheel.

then why comment on NY Times article since they are liars?

A good newspaper can have lousy journalist and articles. A bad newspaper can have a few good articles or journalists. While a person might generally eschew a bad newspaper, it does not mean a bad newspaper won't occasionally publish a good article.

Sometime it is a one off, sometimes the commit accidental journalism, and sometimes newspapers of ill repute like the NYT will slip on a banana peel.

French and German leaders still prefer Biden over President Trump.
They got their guy, no tears from me now.

Anonymous said...

Yes, they prefer Biden, Trump was asking them to uphold their part of the bargain/treaty.

To be fair Biden is lucky he can remember his name, and his administration is largely there to loot it.

I mean that IS Europe. Native lands of racism.

Biden is burning bridges with key nato nations including Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Poland that we know of.
The French FM has the chutzpah to say Biden is better than Trump.
President Trump probably remembers his history when French Polynesia was a key supply base during Guadalcanal. If might be crucial in a future Chinese war to use those same islands again. Trump probably wouldn’t have humiliated the French, but the French seem to prefer humiliation.

Biden is 20x better than trump, easy
And if he really got money from the Chinese through his son so what!?
What's good for China is good for the US! Stop hating China, just go along with it X it's good for us all, Biden says! And he's my kinda guy.. I like that unity he tries to bring.. where we finally blame the unvaccinated for it all..I looooove it...mhhh pure evil, not even hiding anymore, out in the open. He's got my vote!

Aukus pact delivers France some hard truths -

Anonymous said...

As an Australian the real concern for me is the problems the Government and Defence Department were apparently having with the French company. My friends in the Navy have been saying for a while that the project was already behind schedule with increasing concerns of significant cost over runs and delays.
I am sure there is plenty of blame on both sides, and it’s ironic we wanted the French to turn a nuclear submarine into a conventional and then went for the nuclear option anyway... money and time wasted. But at the end of the day it won’t matter in a conflict with China, that fight is coming sooner rather than later and unless the US or the British will let us borrow an older nuclear submarine our eventual new submarines will not be in this fight.

The slimey French are no ones ally. They try to dismantle NATO again by pushing for a French-led EU army. As NATO members sort of, the slimey Frogs supplied the Argies with exocets and tech backup to enable the Argies to sink British warships with huge loss of life. Have the Frogs ever been trustworthy or thankful for being rescued? No. They have received their just desserts. Refrain with gusto: "We all live in an AUKUS submarine, an AUKUS submarine, an AUKUS submarine"....ad infinitum.

I am betting that the below was more copy and paste link from a good boy, who always colored between the lines , but without lines could not artistically or realistically draw a god damn thing. A complete zero.

"Aukus pact delivers France some hard truths -"

"Number one: there is no sentiment in geostrategy.

The French must see there is no point in wailing about having been shoddily treated. They were.

They acted with steely disregard for French concerns but, when it comes to the crunch, that is what nations do. It is almost the definition of a nation: a group of people who have come together to defend their own interests. Their own, not others'."

"Number one: there is no sentiment in geostrategy.

So at a moment notice the US can tell it European allies FU?

" a group of people who have come together to defend their own interests. "
So alliances are worthless and do not protect the group interest of nations very often?
