I live in the shadow of the Cape and know several folks that will be without jobs because of the end of the shuttle. Still, this could be a very good thing. In the late 70s when the Apollo program was cancelled, many top engineers were laid off and working menial jobs to make ends meet, but many of them went on to found new technology companies here on the Space Coast. A lot of creative talent is about to move into the free market and out of the gov.
