Iran Severs All Commercial Ties With Saudi Arabia

Reuters: Iran stops doing business with Saudi Arabia as Nimr execution rankles

Relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia deteriorated even further on Thursday as Tehran severed all commercial ties with Riyadh and accused Saudi jets of attacking its embassy in Yemen's capital.

A row has been raging for days between Shi'ite Muslim power Iran and the conservative Sunni kingdom since Saudi Arabia executed cleric Nimr al-Nimr, an opponent of the ruling dynasty who demanded greater rights for the Shi'ite minority.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Sudan, Djibouti and Somalia have all broken off diplomatic ties with Iran this week, the United Arab Emirates downgraded its relations and Kuwait, Qatar and Comoros recalled their envoys after the Saudi embassy in Tehran was stormed by protesters following the execution of Nimr and 46 other men.

WNU Editor: These tensions are not going to be resolved any time soon .... and for those countries caught in the middle, a delicate balancing act .... Iraq in delicate balancing act amid Saudi-Iran feud (Washington Post).

That's only true on the editorial desk of the Washington Post taking its direction from the State Dept that clings to the anachronistic idea that Iraq doesn't closely ally with Iran as a result of Operation Iraqi Freedom. They can't grasp the notion that those purple fingers point to Tehran, that Americans aren't welcome in Iraq and that Saudi Arabia is an enemy of Iraq because it's an enemy of Iran.

  2. WNU Editor,

    Tip for you:

"What the map shows is that, due to a peculiar correlation of religious history and anaerobic decomposition of plankton, almost all the Persian Gulf’s fossil fuels are located underneath Shiites. This is true even in Sunni Saudi Arabia, where the major oil fields are in the Eastern Province, which has a majority Shiite population."

  3. I have always known that much of the oil in the Middle East is in Shiite regions, but this is the best article (by far) that I have read that explains this. Thank you for the link Jay, I will be posting it later tonight.

The GF is moving forward on her "get off the grid project". She has a contractor and will be having someone from Hydro One coming by to tell her what she can do and what is available. It looks like we created a monster Jay. :)

    1. WNU Editor,

I'd rather that people became "monsters" about energy efficiency, than granite countertops and 60gpm multi head showers.

I did a full insulation package for one of my customers a couple years ago, ( walls, attic, doors and windows) and supervised the installation of a new furnace, ( with Texas AC) and hot water system.

This September the savings from the reno's will have paid for the reno's, the furnace barely runs in the winter, they no longer need A/C in summer, and going forward, that's $800 ( or more as rates rise) a month they can keep in the bank.

  4. P.S. Jay .... she saw your picture on your blogger profile and was surprised. For some reason she thought you were Chinese (I guess because she knows that I know a lot of people from China). But she said her dog is better looking than your two dogs (sighhh .... my GF loves Rotties)

    1. WNU Editor,

Casey, the pitbullX passed this summer, Digger, the Belgian ShepardX is still with us, but ailing.

While I have a soft spot for BLabs, my favorite dogs are always the ones I have at the time, and my next dogs will always be the ones at the Shelter that really need a good home.
