First Impact Of Iran Sanctions: The Sale Of 200 Boeing/Airbus Passenger Jets To Iran Will Be Cancelled


Reuters: U.S. Treasury's Mnuchin: Revoking Boeing, Airbus licenses to sell jets to Iran

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Licenses for Boeing Co (BA.N) and Airbus (AIR.PA) to sell passenger jets to Iran will be revoked, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said on Tuesday after President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement.

Trump said he would reimpose U.S. economic sanctions on Iran, which were lifted under the agreement he had harshly criticized.

The pact, worked out by the United States, five other world powers and Iran, lifted sanctions in exchange for Tehran limiting its nuclear program. It was designed to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb.

WNU Editor: I have been tallying the economic costs and impact of these new sanctions .... it literally runs in the tens of billions of dollars. The biggest impact will be on the oil industry. It will now be very difficult for Iran to modernize its oil refineries and production facilities, and doubly so in trying to sell its oil to foreign buyers .... Iran oil exports to Europe, Asia at risk following Trump decision (Reuters).

  2. Gosh..I imagine there will be a number of other nations who will make and sell planes to Iran and thus Iran will have the planes it wants and American workers will lose a buyer
