FBI Opened An Investigation Into President Trump If He Was Working With Russia After He Had Fired FBI Director Comey

New York Times: F.B.I. Opened Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia

WASHINGTON — In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.

The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow’s influence.

The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has long been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice.

WNU Editor: Talk about these FBI agents overstepping your authority. Everyone in the Executive works at the pleasure of the President, and FBI Directors are not immune to being fired. But the idea that these officials took it upon themselves to investigate a duly elected President for "anti-American activity" tells me that the rot at the Justice Department and agencies like the FBI are far worse than what I thought. And what is even more remarkable is that this is only becoming public now.

  2. NYT's article should read "Keystone Kops FBI was concerned and worried that Trump was a Russian agent."

This is the FBI that investigated the Anthrax Scare for 5 years, went nowhere, paid a settlement for bad faith prosecution (Mueller we are looking at you dud), and then went tits up.

There are many good FBI agents but we have found 5 to 10 at or near the top, which is enough to contaminate a large part of its work product.

Some of these top level FBI agents are so corrupt, venal, and arrogant that the cheapest way to penetrate America for the FSB (KGB) is to have target agents meant to get caught. The willing accomplices in the media, the Democrat apparatchiks (like Louis Lerner) and Party leaders will will spend so much time, news air time (narrative), and government resources that other plants go undetected. The FSB must play "watch the birdie" all the time.

  3. Worry not...the Trum[ gov shutdown has p[ut some 5 thousand FBI agents on forlough

No one, including the president, is above the law. This president met alone with Putin and we still have no idea what went on and what got said!
The noose tightens and the ready dismissal of all the anti-Trump stuff will all come to a head when Michael Cohen testifies, openly, before Congress and the Mueller report (which Rudy wants to edit!) is soon delivered. So why not wait and see who is right and who is wrong?

  4. Maybe people will be safer now that the FBI is furloughed?

A federal judge Thursday ordered the government to pay more than $101 million in the case of four men who spent decades in prison for a 1965 murder they did not commit after the FBI withheld evidence of their innocence.

Justice Department had formally exonerated Hatfill – and paid him $5.82 million in a legal settlement – Mueller could not be bothered to walk across the street to attend the press conference announcing the case’s resolution.

The FBI never did get to the bottom of the Osage Murders.

    https://www.pbs.org/newshour/arts/the-forgotten-murders-of-the-osage-people-for-the-oil-beneath-their-land

Good thing the FBI was not around during reconstruction. They would have pinned the murders of over 2,000 black and white Republicans not on the KKK and Democrat Party but on the Republican Party.

  5. Bigger Scandal

Former President Clinton ditches Secret Service to fly down to the Bahamas with convicted pedophile Epstein to engage in sex trafficking of underage girls.

    Human trafficking is wrong Democrats.

So before he get up your dander up about the Stormy Underpants story that 12 years old, you might want to concentrate on the more recent crime which has no statute of limitations and which affected the most vulnerable amongst us, the children.

Oh and quit wishing you were Clinton in the Bahamas. That is just sick you chuds!

  6. the "let's blame the FBI" game is easy enough to do...but
    1. Read up on Deep Throat and how Nixon got caught and impeached
    2. what would you substitute for the FBI?
    3. 9/11 is hardly the fault of the FBI and to say so, as above, is just plain wrong and fully misleading
    4. the FBI is ok when they do work that catches those we dislike but is not ok when they seem to do things that we find wrong or annoying.
    5. I have had some first-hand experience with that law enforcement agency and yes, they often are slick, tricky, and bad...on the other hand, they were also in some instance (personal ones) helpful and useful
and in passing: nothing, zip, found to indict Hillary and Clinton...and so deflection in this instance not at all helpful

  7. wrong: the FBI and Osage murders

Due to the investigation of the FBI, Hale, his nephews, and one of the ranch hands they hired were charged with the murder of Mollie's family. Hale was formally charged with the murder of Henry Roan, who had been killed on the Osage Reservation land, making it a federal crime.[9] Two of his accomplices had died before the FBI investigation was completed. Hale and his associates were finally convicted in state and federal trials from 1926 to 1929, which had changes of venue, hung juries, appeals, and overturned verdicts. In 1926, Ernest Burkhart pleaded guilty to being part of the conspiracy.

  13. Deep Throat?

Low level operatives went to the Democrat Party HQ to steal their debate prep and game plan. Also they may have been there to see who was sleeping with what prostitute.

Meanwhile Democrats steal elections like Chicago in 1960 or California in 2018.

I am worked up about Watergate. It tells me how corrupt the Democrats are.

    2) After the meeting, they did not sweep for bugs? Is that your story? Are you mental! Seek help immediately!

  23. President Trump has repeatedly sought to conceal the details of his face-to-face conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin from senior officials in his own administration, the Washington Post's Greg Miller reports.

Details: After meeting with Putin in Germany in 2017, Trump reportedly took notes from his own interpreter and instructed them not to discuss the contents of the conversation with other administration officials. This is just one example of what Miller reports is "a broader pattern" of Trump shielding his communications with Putin from the public as well as senior government officials — a pattern that has resulted in there being "no detailed record" of his face-to-face meetings with the Russian leader at "five locations over the past two years."
