Reuters: Exclusive: Dozens of Republican former U.S. national security officials to back Biden
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Dozens of Republican former U.S. national security officials are forming a group that will back Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, people familiar with the effort said, in a further sign that President Donald Trump has alienated some members of his own party.
The group will publicly endorse Biden in the coming weeks and its members plan to campaign for the former vice president who is challenging Trump in the Nov. 3 election, the sources said. It includes at least two dozen officials who served under Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, with dozens more in talks to join, the sources added.
They will argue that another four years of a Trump presidency would endanger U.S. national security and that Republican voters should view Biden as the better choice despite policy differences, the sources said.

Update: Dozens of GOP ex-national security officials to form group to back Biden: report (The Hill)
WNU Editor: GOP Ex-National Security Officials that gave the US never ending wars and who were ignored by President Trump now want their revenge. They are not even hiding it.

The Russians and Pakistanis have or have at times cut off supplies to American troops in Afghanistan.
ReplyDeletePakistan cut off American logistics convoys at time going back to the Bush administration in 12 years these experts have never addressed that problem.
American convoys can literally or almost literally wave to Taliban on their way to the Afghan border. WTF!
If the geographical positions of Afghanistan and Pakistan were reversed and Afghanistan bordered the sea, the safe areas and support that Pakistan gives to the Taliban would not matter as much. But it is not that way.
It as been discussed that if the US cut off visas to Pakistani students and businessmen, they might reconsider their support for the Taliban. Have the swamp dwellers considered this? No.
Screw these 'officials'. What they are is official asses.
If or when the US pulls out and the Chinese move in, if they do to the Taliban what they are doing the Uighurs the Taliban will rue the day that they did not negotiate in good faith. I'll have popcorn.
After a single Jobn Bolton, dozens are meaningkess.
ReplyDeleteI think a few dozen or more Dems fed up with their psrty will negate them several times over.
If a few dozen are in a forest and no one hears them, do they exist?
More votes for Trump.

Sir--
ReplyDeleteWhy do you note that "they do not even hide it"? why would they? Anti Trumpers have been very clear and outspoken and have never sought to conceal their views, on the assumption that in a democracy being forthright is a true course of action
"never sought to conceal their views" Lololololo.I didn't know you comedy, I thought just fiction.
DeleteEric Schmidt is on the wrong side of history.
ReplyDeleteGoogle & Twitter have been censoring things long before Trump. So this is bigger than Trump and would have happened, if Trump had not existed. Trump is their latest excuse. Trump is their latest obstacle.
Eric Schmidt is a really bigoted little man. He should have paid more attention to his mother's profession instead of only software code. Maybe the guy, who thinks he is an all around genius, could read Orwell and see, where this is heading.
Everyone of these guys is a totalitarian fascist.
1) They said you do not belong on Twitter, build you own.
3) People built their own (Parler) and then they get their physical servers shut down.
If people then use the Freedom of assembly to share ideas in a physical public square, they will shut that down too. They will use the excuse of corona, public order, or something to override the Bill of Rights.
4) It is fast trending to the point where Americans will have to use Samizdat like in USSR to be able to discuss political ideals without tribal Liberals coming after them. All liberals are tribal.
Eric Schmidt and others see this great vision. They are willing to take shortcuts like sanctuary cities, no border enforcement to get there. The Wall Street Journal actually advocates for open borders. But here is the thing. They do not encourage sanctuary cities or law breaking. It is a big difference. Liberals on the other hand advocate open border s and then live in gated communities. Again it is a big difference.
If Eric Schmidt is lucky posterity will know him like Old King Cole or Coel Hen.
PS 4 years ago ... 8 years ago Eric Schmidt was donating to Democrats. Only difference is he is a richer than before and more vocal.
ReplyDeleteTrump has regularly said that he has a broad range of political positions. "I identify with some things as a Democrat," he told MSNBC in July. He had told CNN the same thing back in 2004. He’s also expressed interest in running as a third-party candidate.
According to the New York City Board of Elections, Trump has changed his party affiliation five times since registering as a Republican in Manhattan in 1987. A form that year notes he had previously been registered in the Jamaica Estates neighborhood of Queens, where he grew up, but his prior affiliation was not identified.
Trump’s affiliations have gone back and forth since then. Here’s a quick look:
