If The West Arms Georgia It's 'War'

Georgians Welcome US Navy In Batumi

From the Sun (U.K.):

RUSSIA last night warned the West that arming Georgia for attacks against breakaway republics would be treated as a “declaration of war”.
President Dmitry Medvedev dramatically upped the stakes in the crisis and threatened military retaliation if America’s nuclear missile shield is built in Russia’s back yard.

Pentagon official Bryan Whitman said: “Down the road we will be looking at what may be required to rebuild the Georgian military.”

My Comment: By threatening war against Nato and the U.S. .... and without the means to back-up such a threat .... Russia is entering a dangerous and reckless agenda. Support from its allies are minimal at best, and its military is years away from being a credible threat. This talk is all bluster, but if it is unable to follow through on what they are threatening to do .... their situation will become very unstable.

It is also clear that Russia is now worried about a guerrilla war breaking out in the Caucasus. Chenya, Dagestan, and now parts of Georgia .... these regions in the Caucasus are fiercely anti-Russian. It will not take much for them to start a low level conflict with Russian soldiers.
