As police removed the covered body of a terrorist from the Chabad House Jewish community centre last night, the people of Mumbai got one of their few glimpses of the small band of attackers.

The terrorists staged a well-planned attack on India's financial capital. They devastated two key business hotels - one of which was a historic Indian landmark - and struck at its most popular tourist cafe.

It was a sophisticated propaganda exercise aimed at hitting India where it hurts most: its emerging status as an economic power. But beyond their competence in executing their aims, little is known of the estimated two dozen men who attacked the city of some 18m people.

My Comment: 24 or more men directly involved in the attack .... not including the men who had to be in place in order to prepare and support this operation. The Shipment of weapons and grenades had to be extensive and done in secret. Intelligence gathering must have been comprehensive. The training had to be professional and extensive. The monies to fund this operation had to be considerable.

When one looks at what has happened in the past few days, one leaves with the impression that this operation was bigger and more extensively planned than the 9/11 attacks against the U.S. in 2001. One leaves with the impression that someone has declared full scale war against the heart of India itself.
