Chairman Of The Joint Chiefs Is Comfortable With Iraq Timetable

WASHINGTON – The top U.S. military official says he's comfortable with the president's decision on a troop pullout timetable from Iraq.

Adm. Mike Mullen says he was able to offer his best military advice to President Barack Obama. The Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman is reluctant to talk about "winning and losing" in Iraq. But he says the conditions are in place for the Baghdad government to successfully take control of the country.

My Comment: February had a spike in violence and casualties. Northern Iraq is festering with Arab-Kurd animosities. The drop in oil prices has halted reconstruction and aid projects for the country.

From where I stand, Iraq civil war can easily break out again, and the only thing that keeps everything together is the U.S. presence.

I hope they know what they are doing.
