Global Warming Biggest Threat To Human Life: UN Forum

Forum Says Climate Shift Brings Deaths -- New York Times

Global warming is causing more than 300,000 deaths and about $125 billion in economic losses each year, according to a report by the Global Humanitarian Forum, an organization led by Kofi Annan, the former United Nations secretary general.

The report, to be released Friday, sifted data sets and existing studies of health, disaster, population and economic trends. It found that human-influenced climate change — mainly by exacerbating flooding and drought — was elevating the global death rates from illnesses including malnutrition, diarrheal disease, malaria and heat-related ailments. But even before its release, the report drew criticism from some experts on climate and risk, who questioned its methods and conclusions.

Special Note from the WNU Editor: In the 1980s I worked for Environment Canada in gathering information on the impact of acid rain on Canadian forests. I have "some" experience and expertise on environmental issues. I also worked for the UN from 1988 to 1994 ... so I have some idea on how they work.

My Comment: For this UN report .... the authors emphasize on the suffering that is occurring in the poor countries .... not the developed countries. Hmmmm .... you think there is a link.

Of course the report ignores the impact of rotten and corrupt politics/governments, tribalism and ethnic warfare, and a culture of anti-capitalism mixed with a culture of environmental destruction and a pro-socialist slant for government intervention and control. Oh no .... these situations have no impact at all.

I have already read the executive summary, and this report is an embarrassment to anyone who takes man made climate change and pollution seriously. I am sure that when I look at the methodology of how this report was brought about .... more embarrassment and ridicule will be found. The fact that 20 Nobel Laureates signed on to this travesty makes one realize that these individuals may be brilliant in their field .... but global warming they are not.

300,000 dying each year .... and to solve this there must be a massive transfer of resources from developed countries to underdeveloped countries .... all of course administered by the UN and the authors of this report.

Who are they kidding.
