Mexico: Most-wanted Drug Lord's Power Waning -- Yahoo News/AP

MEXICO CITY – Mexico's most-wanted drug lord has an increasingly less-powerful role in his cartel, the country's Attorney General said Friday.

Eduardo Medina-Mora said Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman remains an emblematic figure in the Sinaloa Cartel but he's not as involved in day-to-day drug trafficking.

Guzman lost his leadership role while serving a 20-year sentence at a Mexican prison, Medina-Mora said. Guzman escaped in 2001, and has been on the run ever since.
