At Least 7 Police, 25 Rebels Dead in Fighting in Colombia

BOGOTA – At least seven policemen and 25 FARC rebels died in clashes over the past 24 hours in the southwestern Colombian province of Cauca, authorities said Monday.

The regional police commander, Gen. Gustavo Adolfo Ricaurte, said that the clash occurred when the security forces located and attacked a camp of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, in the municipality of Timba. Earlier the rebels had mortared a police patrol, killing the seven troops.

My Comment: For a guerrilla organization that is on its last legs, it is showing a lot of resilience.
