The Polish Military (In Afghanistan) Needs Help



Poles in A’stan Struggle with Inadequate Equipment -- War Is Boring

On Aug. 11, a joint Polish-Afghan patrol in Ajuristan was ambushed by a superior number of Taliban fighters, including snipers. Polish Captain Daniel Ambrozinski “took several shots in the snipers’ direction and then leaned out to check if they reached him. Then he was shot in the chest,” said Lieutenant Colonel Dariusz Kacperczyk, a Polish spokesman. Ambrozinski died at the scene. Only after American attack helicopters arrived, were Polish troops able to recover the captain’s body.

My Comment: "War is Boring's" observations on the inadequacies in the Polish military is on the money. Poor equipment, poor and inadequate support, a lack of military leadership from the top .... yup .... all the hallmarks of a modern Warsaw Pact Army.

This type of military culture and strategic thinking is so last century. Unfortunately for the Polish soldiers .... and for the allies who depend on them .... this is their normal state of affairs.
