The White House ordered the Justice Department on Thursday night to consider other places to try the 9/11 terror suspects after a wave of opposition to holding the trial in lower Manhattan.
The dramatic turnabout came hours after Mayor Bloomberg said he would "prefer that they did it elsewhere" and then spoke to Attorney General Eric Holder.

My Comment: Long time readers of this blog know that this should not be a surprise. The Obama Justice Department has been disorganized on this issue since day 1 .... continuing the same confusing tradition of the Bush administration on this signature issue.

"should not be a surprise"? Didn't your last entry on this subject just say "but I'm sure the Obama administration won't listen" to Bloomberg? I'm not going to call you a partisan, since your cynicism seems evenly distributed, but try to give the President a little bit of credit. Better to have a bad idea and listen when people tell you how horrible it is than to have a bad idea and persist.

I should have made myself more clearer. The process on how to try and punish the 9/11 plotters has always been a confusing issue for both parties .... that is the point that I was trying to make.
As to moving the trials to another location, I applaud the President on this one. It is a surprise to me, but I can only guess that the chorus of unhappiness from many voters in New York may have actually impacted this President. Kudos to him is he decides to proceed with this change in venue.
