WASHINGTON -- As part of an U.S. Air Force effort to overhaul management of its nuclear weapons, the service's new Global Strike Command is preparing to assume oversight next week for the nation's B-2 and B-52 dual-capable bombers (see GSN, Dec. 2, 2009).
The Air Force is facing new questions, though, about how well a new command structure over the nuclear-armed bombers can prepare crews for an operational role they are expected to play much more frequently: dropping conventional ordnance.
