Hotshot Sniper In One-And-A-Half Mile Double Kill -- Times Online

A BRITISH Army sniper has set a new sharpshooting distance record by killing two Taliban machinegunners in Afghanistan from more than 1 miles away.

Craig Harrison, a member of the Household Cavalry, killed the insurgents with consecutive shots — even though they were 3,000ft beyond the most effective range of his rifle.

“The first round hit a machinegunner in the stomach and killed him outright,” said Harrison, a Corporal of Horse. “He went straight down and didn’t move.

British Army and Afghan National Army troops were under fire from ambushing Taliban fighters. British Army sniper Corporal Craig Harrison took three shots. Range: 1.54 miles. First shot: 1st dead Taliban machinegunner. Second shot: 2nd dead Taliban machinegunner. Third shot: destroyed Taliban PKM GPMG weapon. Result: longest known, measured sniper kill.   1. Well, gosh! That's two Hat Tips in one day! Thanks for thinking so well of my brief synopsis of what occurred.

    Really, the discussion in that MP.net thread regarding Corporal of Horse Harrison's incredible feat has become an extremely interesting read. He was dealing with something like a 500+ foot drop of the rounds at that range and he still got three kill shots on the two Taliban and their weapon! Simply incredible!
