News Reports Are Surfacing On Why North Korea Torpedoed A South Korean Naval Vessel


North Korea Attacked Ship Over 'Aid Rejection' -- The Australian

NORTH Korea attacked a South Korean warship after the South baulked at its request for economic aid in return for a summit.

The North's request was delivered through a senior member of the South's ruling Grand National Party last December, Dong-A Ilbo newspaper reported, quoting sources familiar with Pyongyang.

It said the North demanded that the South pledge economic assistance, including 300,000 tonnes of fertiliser, before any summit between President Lee Myung-bak and its leader Kim Jong-il.

My Comment: This is not the first time that North Korea has used military and/or terror tactics against the South. But in this case, it appears that it has backfired against the North.

With fresh North Korea sanctions now being implemented to target and cripple the regime's arms sales profits .... I would not be surprise that these actions will profoundly impact the North's access to needed goods and materials .... a result that I expect is going to make many in the North profoundly unhappy.
