US Stalls On Sept. 11 Trial For 5 At Gitmo -- FOX News/AP

My Comment: When President George Bush was in office, his handling of the Guantanamo detainees was chastised and condemned by the media, human rights groups, and the Democrats. After being in power for two years with super majorities in the Congress and a Democrat President .... nothing has changed. And with the exception of a few human rights groups .... everyone is quiet.
I do expect prisoner prisoner Omar Khadr to be put on trial, but for the serious and grievous offenders in Guantanamo .... I expect them to be in limbo for a very (very) long time.
Not sure if this makes me more or less cynical than you, but I think the reason Obama gets away without nearly as much criticism on this issue is that now there is no alternative. The Republicans did it, so Guantanamo opponents voted Democrat, and then the Democrats did it, and now it's pretty obvious that there's nothing anyone can do to get a US government that will shut down the prison there. If I worked as an advocate to shut the place down, I'd have given up by now.
