Improved treatment of the injured must not be at the expense of former servicemen in need, says Richard Dannatt.

Whether British troops begin to leave Afghanistan next year or remain until 2014, sadly, one thing is certain: there will continue to be casualties and fatalities within the ranks. Yet while that is a sobering observation, there is no doubt that over the past five years, the care for those wounded in the line of duty has improved almost beyond recognition.
