Editor's Note

War News Updates is going to take a 12 day vacation .... starting now. I will be flying off to San Francisco (in a few hours) to be with family (i.e. brother, niece, nephew, mom, etc.), eat fine food, drink good wine (and Scotch), meet some old friends at Standford University, and (more importantly) get smashed at my friend's winery in Napa for a few days (her wine cellar is one to die for).

While this may sound like a lot of fun (it is), I must confess that on one level I do not want to go because I will not have the time to update this blog when I am there.

There is a lot of exciting and fascinating stuff happening around the world right now. Wikileaks, the escalating war in Afghanistan, turmoil on the Korean Peninsula, the financial/debt crisis, the evolving and dangerous threat from Al Qaeda .... this .... and much more .... all tells me that 2011 is going to be an exciting and interesting time.

When I come back (December 14), War News Updates will have a sister site that will complement this blog (It is called War Defense News). It will present news in the same manner as the Drudge Report but focusing on wars and conflicts, international events, and defense/military related stories. For a look at what this site will look like (I will be filling in the links when I come back), go to the link here.

If any of you have a website or blog that I should put on the news/blog roll, please leave the link in the comments. Any other comments or suggestions will also be appreciated.

In closing, I would like to thank all of you .... my readers .... who give me feedback and support. I never expected this blog to have the impact that it is having right now (another reason why I do not want to go away now), but I take comfort with the knowledge that when I come back I will be recharged and ready to go. We definitely live in interesting times .... and I hope that this blog helps to illuminate some of those stories and events that interest you.

  4. Thanks Eric.

My last REAL holiday was 4 years ago .... wow .... long overdue.

On a side note .... mega thanks for the work that you do. I have never had the chance to say it, but your analysis on Canada', decision to buy the F-35 is spot on. I stay away from commenting on it (I have a very good friend who was actually involved in the decision to purchase it .... talk about a small world), but I do not hesitate to point my contacts in Canada to read your site .... which they do.

Anyway .... got to get ready for the airport. I will be back .... when I am back.
