My Comment: David Axe has been doing some excellent reporting from Afghanistan. He does not disappoint in this post.
This Afghan battle reminds me of the Battle of la Drang in Vietnam 46 years ago, and immortalized in the movie "We Were Soldiers". Heavy casualties were inflicted upon the enemy .... but in the end .... it did not make a difference to the outcome of the war. Will this happen in Afghanistan .... I do not know .... but it appears that for every Afghan Taliban soldier that is killed, it seems that 3 are ready to replace him.
