Both Koreas Acknowledge Armistice Anniversary Friday -- Christian Science Monitor
On the 59th anniversary of the armistice signifying the end of the Korean War, North Korean veterans pledged their support to new leader Kim Jong-un.

My Comment: Will both countries still be divided 59 years from now .... I doubt it.
OK...WHY DO YOU DOUBT IT?
ReplyDeleteWhy do I doubt it. My perspective comes from my Godfather who is Korean, and living in South Korea in 1988. Regardless of the politics .... the people and culture are the same .... and because of that there is always an overwhelming desire to overcome any barriers that are put in their way. I saw that when the Berlin wall fell, and I always see it in my Korean friends when they talk of reunification.
ReplyDeleteWill it happen in less than 59 years .... I cannot say with certainty .... but should the North Koreans overthrow their oppressors tomorrow .... I .... and everyone else .... will be there cheering them on.
good! I wanted reasons. Why it is not going to happen: Unification would put US at door of China
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. next to China .... probably not Fred. Koreans are very nationalistic and they tolerate the U.S. military presence because of North Korea .... take away the threat .... the U.S. military presence will be isolated to maybe a small base and some listening posts.
