Is This The Proper Way To Replace A Senior U.S. General?

I am told that General Mattis was traveling and in a meeting when an aide passed him a note telling him that the Pentagon had announced his replacement as head of Central Command. It was news to him -- he hadn't received a phone call or a heads-up from anyone at the Pentagon or the White House.

My Comment:
I have been thinking about this story for the past few days .... and yup .... I am getting a bad taste in my mouth on how it was handled. In short .... the optics for the dismissal of this well known U.S. general are horrible. Someone either screwed up .... or it was done deliberately to send a message.
