Obama Wants To Retain Top Military Advisors -- Defense News

WASHINGTON — US President Barack Obama is renominating Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, and Adm. Sandy Winnefeld, the vice chairman, for second terms as his top two uniformed military advisors.

“I’m very proud of the president’s announcement, and I’m very pleased that, with concurrence of the United States Senate, I will have the opportunity to work with these two distinguished leaders of our country for another two years,” Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Wednesday during a briefing at the Pentagon.

Dempsey and Winnefeld must now go through the same confirmation process each faced when nominated for their first terms in 2011.
