Snowden Gets Job Offer From Russia's Facebook -- Reuters
(Reuters) - American fugitive Edward Snowden was offered a job by Russia's top social networking site on Thursday, hours after the former intelligence contractor received a year-long asylum in Russia.
"We invite Edward Snowden to Petersburg and will be happy if he decides to join the star team of programmers at VKontakte," Pavel Durov, one of the founders of the St. Petersburg-based VKontakte, Russia's answer to Facebook, said on his profile.
Snowden's temporary asylum papers allow him to work in Russia, according to Anatoly Kucherena, a lawyer close to the Russian authorities, who has been assisting the American.
Moscow has refused Washington's repeated requests to hand over the 30-year-old to face trial on espionage charges after he leaked details of secret U.S. surveillance programs involving phone and Internet data.

My Comment: For those who may not know .... my nationality is Russian and I have been involved in web start-ups and projects for the past 20 years. I am familiar with St. Petersburg-based VKontakte, and I am not surprised that they have jumped on the chance to recruit Edward Snowden. But if I was to advise Edward Snowden I would tell him to be open to offers (VKontakte is one of many).... focus on working/living in Moscow or St. Petersburg (if I had a choice I would go to St. Petersburg, it is a gorgeous and wonderful place to live and work in) .... and to not break his promise to Russian authorities that he will stop leaking NSA secrets. Living and working in Russia is a chance on a new and different life .... don't screw it up.
