According To Iran's Foreign Minister Permitting International Inspectors To Visit Iran's Nuclear Sites Was Not Discussed In Geneva

Iran's FM: Permission To Inspect Nuke Sites Not Given -- UPI

TEHRAN, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said Wednesday Parliament is the only body that can authorize unannounced inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities.

Speaking at a parliamentary session, Zarif said the agreement struck between Iran and six world powers in Geneva did not involve the Additional Protocol, which would allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to conduct unannounced inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities and require Iran to supply information on its nuclear activities. He said the issue was not discussed by the negotiators in Geneva, the Tasnim News Agency said.

The official IRNA news agency said Zarif told the Parliament construction at the Arak heavy water plant will continue.

My Comment: Inspections are always an integral part of any international agreement .... the fact that the Iranian foreign minister is now saying that there were no negotiations and/or agreement on permitting inspectors to visit Iranian nuclear sites is dumbfounding to listen to. The fact that he is also saying that it is only the Iranian parliament that can determine if inspectors will be permitted to enter these sites makes me wonder on what was exactly discussed in Geneva when this agreement was signed. Bottom line ... if trust and verify cannot be done .... then this deal will be as good as dead.
