CNN Poll: Afghanistan War Arguably Most Unpopular In U.S. History -- CNN
Washington (CNN) – Support for the war in Afghanistan has dipped below 20%, according to a new national poll, making the country's longest military conflict arguably its most unpopular one as well.
The CNN/ORC International survey released Monday also indicates that a majority of Americans would like to see U.S. troops pull out of Afghanistan before the December 2014 deadline.
Just 17% of those questioned say they support the 12-year-long war, down from 52% in December 2008. Opposition to the conflict now stands at 82%, up from 46% five years ago.
"Those numbers show the war in Afghanistan with far less support than other conflicts," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. "Opposition to the Iraq war never got higher than 69% in CNN polling while U.S. troops were in that country, and while the Vietnam War was in progress, no more than six in 10 ever told Gallup's interviewers that war was a mistake."

My Comment: The American public has finally woken up to the fact that it is now time to leave Afghanistan. Let us hope that the politicians and the White House will also wake up.
ReplyDeleteThe "American Public" is of no consequence.
Even Noam Chomsky had conceded that the Anti-Vietnam Protests happened and were partly successful ONLY because Wall Street had lost the taste for "Charlie and Gook's Blood" and actively supported withdrawal from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and retreat back to outer rim of old stations in South Korea, Japan, Guam, Philippines and Indonesia.
When Wall Street loses its nerve and taste for Turban-Head Afghan blood and genocide with drones or real human foot-soldiers then the Jew-Owned Niggers called the U.S.CONGRESS at Capitol Hill, the Jew-Bank-and-Israel-Suckling Pentagon-DoD-Defense-Contractors and finally the Wall Street's OUTHOUSE called WHITE HOUSE will then wean away from these disastrous war mongering and perpetual wars.
There is simply too much money laundering in wars for war to end.
When they stop breast feeding they quickly switch onto oedipal sex.
ONLY a Punctuated Equilibrium will put these Blood Thirsty Wall Street Money Launderers in such a place and a blotch up like 20th century Truman/Stalin/Hitler/Mao will only make it far worse for the planet in the 21st century.
Fortunately, many replicas of NSA's TAO is very busy with backdoor-buggering, bugging and monitoring the "process" by which the manipulation occurs. And the failures of "Public Disapproval" such as Occupy Wall Street or Arab Spring are proving to be valuable control experiments in smoking out the mechanics and reverse engineering the social psychology of the 0.01% who control the banking and war.
As for Afghanistan, it is just a matter of time before a metaphorical President Najibullah is found hanging from his neck off a balcony on the front pages of Washington Post and New York Times while the invisible armies hold the trigger on the prodigal Stingers at the energy and transportation grids.
The only way to kill the elephant is to swing the berserk elephant onto the Wailing Wall.
First make it Berserk, then Swing.
