My Comment: I have spent the morning talking to family, friends, and associates in Ukraine and Russia .... and what they are telling me is disturbing in every-way. Ignoring the fact that the economy has all but collapsed in eastern Ukraine ..... with pensions and all government salaries payments being stopped, all small-medium businesses shutting down, banks closing their doors, coupled with massive unemployment and a growing sense of desperation and fear .... this is actually the least of their problems. Civil war has come to Ukraine. The fighting is actually happening throughout eastern Ukraine, with Ukrainian forces in constant battles with local militias. Civilian/militia/and Ukrainian troop casualties are high everywhere .... and there is no let-up in the fighting. What is also very disturbing is that many Russians with military backgrounds are now flocking to this part of Ukraine to get involved in the fight. The biggest organized units are from the Caucasus, but it is social media and Russians with military training who have family in eastern Ukraine that comprise the bulk of those who are now rushing in to assist in the fight. I already know of one person who has family in the Luhansk region of Ukraine who has rushed there in the past week to help them. He is ex-Spetsnaz (Russian special forces) who has lived and worked in Saint Petersburg for the past 20 years .... his wife told me that he has taken a leave of absence and I can only imagine what he is doing in Luhansk right now. I do not see any Russian government involvement or promotion of this surge (so far) .... but they are not stopping this inflow of fighters into eastern Ukraine .... and I have to wonder if they really can stop it when one considers how vast and open this region is.

To say that I am upset with all of these developments is an understatement. Regular readers of this blog know that I have been warning about this for the past 2-3 months .... but I have always had hope that a peaceful solution will be found. Sadly .... I no longer have any hope .... and if this inflow of "Russian volunteers" continues and the Ukrainian government continues to escalate the conflict by using aircraft and heavy weapons .... the conflict in eastern Ukraine is going to become a civil war that will go on for years .... and any hope of reconciliation between Ukrainians and the Russian minority that lives within it's borders will be dead for generations. Think Northern Ireland during the "Troubles".... but more bloodier.

  1. Its sad to hear that this is happening, hope your family and friends in Ukraine are safe. I have read that the miners in east Ukraine is begining to strike. Are there now a risk of a Russian invation? Because 1 month ago you said if the country influated its a high risk for an Russian invasion and that Russians is going to try to pressuer Putin to intervene. What effect wil it have on Ukraine if Russia cut the gass?

  2. Sorry for your family and friends situation. I also want to thank you for the info you are posting. We get nothing like this from the media in the States.

  3. Thank you for your comments.

There are actually a few good U.S. reporters in the region .... CNN and NBC have two reporters who have been doing what war correspondents should do .... report on what is happening. Unfortunately .... their reports are few and far between. This region is also vast .... to properly cover all of it is a Herculean task even for the best reporters.

  4. They keep running around crammed into the back of these trucks, in broad daylight on wide open roads and there's going to be a whole lot more of dead ones in the morgue. and these civilians had better learn this is no longer a spectator sport.

  5. 2points/2questions

    - how can 18K to 20K terrorists survive (most of them in a foreign country) without the suport of a state (Russia), knowing that they will have to fight against UKR Air Forces, etc?

    - How can this terrorists enter UKR without passing by Russia with this amount of arms and without RUS knowledge.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sK9uXOuRFck

If UKR had a regime like Syria i would support the rebels but thats not the case, so every people that have principles cant admit and accept what RUS is causing in UKRAINE. UKraine is an independent country. If the "Russians miniroties" have a problem in UKR they should pack their bag and move on. In Ukraine soil, if they dont feel as equals like ukranians thats their problem, they cant dictate what the State can do or not and this is a point that you WUE also dont understand.

You should be "..." of pointing fingers to the UKR people. Their is only one Devil here and thats Russia and Putin! The caos is EAS UKR only is happening because Russia is supporting it. The Devil Assad Regime is also alive and kiling gazing childreens only because RUS is on his side.

Obs : Only now you are texting something about the chehcens fighters but you still didnt wrote who is giving and supporting this terrorists in EAS UKR and from where did they came!
