Critics Say Administration Misrepresented Nature of Attack
WASHINGTON—The White House battled new accusations Wednesday over its handling of the 2012 terrorist attack at U.S. posts in Benghazi, Libya, spurred by a freshly released email that critics said showed the administration engaged in political maneuvering to avoid a public-relations hit.
The previously classified email was among 41 documents obtained under court order and released by Judicial Watch. The conservative legal group filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit last year seeking information about the administration's response to the attack that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.
