Battle At Donetsk Airport; New Ukraine Leader Says No Talks With 'Terrorists -- Reuters

(Reuters) - Ukraine launched air strikes and a paratrooper assault against pro-Russian rebels who seized an airport on Monday, as its newly elected leader rejected any talks with "terrorists" and said a robust military campaign in the east should be able to put down a separatist revolt in "a matter of hours".

Ukrainians rallied overwhelmingly in an election on Sunday behind Petro Poroshenko, a political veteran and billionaire owner of chocolate factories, hoping the burly 48-year-old can rescue the nation from the brink of bankruptcy, civil war and dismemberment by its former Soviet masters in the Kremlin.

My Comment: This is bad in every-way .... calling in air strikes means that the Ukraine army now needs help to confront the pro-Russian rebels. I would not be off if I say that this conflict is now entering what is essentially a state of civil war.

  1. what pro-rebels?? Call it for their real name : russian militias from chechen, south ab, etc.

This is why UKR should join EU, only a corrupt country like Russia does what they are doing in EAS UKR.

  2. I forgot to put in Russian after the pro. But it is true that in the past 2-3 weeks many Russians are now entering eastern Ukraine for the purpose of entering the fight .... I see it in Russian social media and in other forums. And while Moscow is not exactly encouraging it, they are definitely doing nothing to stop it. I will be posting more on this development later.
