U.S. Is Now Laying The Condition That Their Military Assistance Is Contingent On Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki Resigning

Iraq Crisis: US Rules Out Military Action To Stop Isis Until PM Nouri al-Maliki Stands Down -- Belfast Telegraph

The United States has told senior Iraqi officials that the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, must leave office if it is to intervene militarily to stop the advance of Sunni extremists.

The Sunni community sees Mr Maliki as the main architect of its oppression and the US believes there can be no national reconciliation between Sunni and Shia unless he ceases to be leader of the country.

Mr Maliki is showing every sign of wanting to cling to power despite the disasters of the past 10 days during which his army of 350,000 men, on which $41.6bn (£24.5bn) has been spent by Iraq since 2011, has disintegrated after being attacked by a far less numerous foe.

My Comment: We are now witnessing US foreign policy on the fly ... and even if al-Maliki resigns .... the U.S. government will find another reason to not intervene.

  1. I love it when a plan comes together . ... Isis has CIA written all over it. Us being unaware or unable to counter act Isis is a classic case of misdirection. We do not want to stop them. We want those humvees and m1a1's fighting Assad , we want the undermining and ungrateful Maliki out and finally we will release Isis on Iran.
Eventually they will turn on America but not till they have reached all the goals the CIA set out for them ....if they do , we will either really crush them or make it appear we do .

  3. So far I have not seen one thing that Isis has done that goes against US interest. All that U.S equipment is out of pro-iran shia Maliki hands and now fighting Assad.

  7. Interesting theory Travis .... the only flaw that I see in it is that it would have to be approved by the White House .... and they do not have the smarts/intelligence/or "balls" to be that smart, intelligent, brave, and devious.

  9. I had the same thoughts but then I looked at it like this. Obama is willing to drone american citizens in sovereign countries ....so now he is not going to do anything about the most "dangerous" folks on the planet? Eh....maybe but also playing up Obama's weakness and unwillingness to strike them is a great cover for not attacking people doing your bidding. The jury is definitely still out.
