As The Kurds Mobilize In Iraq, Here's A Look At What They Have In Their Arsenal -- Business Insider
As the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) continues its blitz across northern and central Iraq, the Kurdish Peshmerga forces have emerged as the most credible military challenger to the jihadi threat.
In the early days of ISIS's recent onslaught, the Peshmerga took the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, under the pretense of protecting it after the Iraqi Army fled. Since that expansion of Kurdish control, the Peshmerga has dug in around Kurdistan's borders in an attempt to deter any ISIS advance into its territory.

My Comment: On paper they look impressive .... and for their sake I hope that they are.
The Kurds like everyone else are fractious. The Kurdish communist party fights the other main Kurdish party.
ReplyDeleteThat said if the Kurds were easy, Turkey and Iraq under Hussein would have already killed them or assimilated them.
Unless they wan to become refugees, I should think that the Kurds are on 'Death Ground' as described by Sun Tzu. I could be wrong.
I do not know how to give them equipment, but the U.>S should give them anti-tank heavy machine guns, mortars, recoilless rifles and maybe some artillery plus ammo and money.
I don't think they need SAMs versus ISIS.
