The United States, United Nations, Iran and Iraq's own Shi'ite clergy have pushed hard for politicians to come up with an inclusive government to hold the fragmenting country together as Sunni insurgents bear down on Baghdad.
The leader of the al Qaeda offshoot spearheading the insurgency, the Islamic State, has declared a "caliphate" in the lands it has seized in Iraq and Syria. Its leader vowed on Tuesday to avenge what he said were wrongs committed against Muslims worldwide.

My Comment: I am still digesting the fiasco that happened Tuesday in Iraq's parliament .... Today's First Parliamentary Session In Iraq Turns Into A 'Disaster'. There is zero unity among the different sectarian groups in Iraq .... and any U.S. hope for a reconciliation and unified response among these groups is also definitely dead. What is next .... a partitioning of the Iraqi state and .... what is more worrisome to the West .... the establishment of the Islamic State .... a state that is dedicated to our destruction and the establishment of a Global Islamic Caliphate.
Look on the bright side, while Kerry had zero impact on Iraqi unity and knew he would before he went to Iraq at least he got his frequent flyer miles!
