Intense Fighting Reported in E. Ukraine -- Voice of America

Violence continued in eastern Ukraine on Wednesday, a day after Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ended a 10-day unilateral cease-fire and resumed a military offensive against pro-Russian separatists.

A spokesman for Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Lysenko, said at least five Ukrainian servicemen were killed and 21 wounded over the previous 24 hours, while "hundreds" of rebel fighters died in the fighting.

Lysenko said government forces had retaken three settlements from rebel forces and hit 120 separatist targets, while the separatists carried out 19 attacks on military convoys, checkpoints and positions.

    Are the Ukrainian army strong enough to retake Donetsk and Lugansk?

    Will violence spread into Kharkiv or is it safe there?
    3.
    The pro-Russians are they still getting suport from the civilians in Eastern Ukraine?
    4.
    What are your family and friends telling you about whats happening? Are the Kiev troops retaking as many towns as they claim or has the pro-Russians set the fight to a standstill?
    5.
    If Kiev tries to retake any mayor cities like Slaviansk will there be many causalties or will the military try to avoid civlian causalties?
    6.
    Any news from the siege of Sloviansk? Are the millitary strong enouth to retake it?

    That are my questions for today. Hope to get more info about how strong the pro-Russian resistance is and are your friends and family still there or has they evacuated? If they still are there it will be nice to know more about the conflict from their perspective and yours:)
