Russian Deputy PM Mocks Obama By Tweeting ‘Unmanly’ Photo Of President -- The Telegraph
Days after announcement of US sanctions on Russia, the country's deputy prime minister challenges US president's masculinty by tweeting picture of Putin with a leopard and Obama with a poodle
One Russian leader has made it very clear what the Kremlin thinks of the US in a tweet mocking their president’s masculinity.
In a strange display of one upmanship, deputy prime minister Dmitry Rogozin posted a picture on his Twitter account of President Vladimir Putin petting a leopard next to one of Mr Obama holding a fluffy poodle, with the caption “we have different values and allies.”
The post, which was meant as a dig at the US President’s unequal manly status, was retweeted more than 600 times in two hours.

My Comment: When Dimitry Rogozin was Russian Ambassador to NATO he was a regular follower of this blog and he was on my Twitter feed. We also exchanged some emails and we had fun (at least I did) in voicing our differences. But when he was promoted to his present job he had to sever these contacts and play a different role .... I understand this .... welcome to the world of politics where all of your comments are always scrutinized. I know that Dimitry Rogozin is not happy that he is on the U.S. sanction list ... I also know that he is playing to the Russian public with these tweets .... but he is Deputy PM and he will need to talk (one day) to US officials of the Obama administration. This showmanship is not going to help, and (if he is listening) this "one-upmanship" should be left to his subordinates or to his allies.
IMO liking non-imposing dogs is not a problem.
ReplyDeleteThe president's workout video in Poland was a problem. It was devastating.
I am sure everyone has seen the underwhelming presidential workout. I am posting a link as reminder and as proof. The blog linked is not mine and I do not recommend it one way or another.

my 2 cents
This is sort of related. He's got some interesting points on what we might see in the future with Russia.

ReplyDeleteAizino .... priceless.
ReplyDeleteJames,
ReplyDeleteI am some what nonplussed that you had not seen the workout video. I liked the link you provided.

The workout video make a good screensaver or wallpaper for a computer at work in a passive-aggressive sort of way. No falsehoods are told.
I expect more out of Obama with his light schedule and the facilities and staff at his beck and call. After 6 weeks and certainly after 5 1 /2 years ...
Aizino,
ReplyDeleteIt was in jest. Still, I try to protect my eyes from sights such as that. It's almost as bad as him throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game.
