A Distrubing Discussion On What Appears To Be The Fate Of Former Taliban Prisoner US. Soldier Bowe Berghdahl
My Comment: It appears that he gets to keep his money and a "general discharge" .... wow .... if true .... expect a firestorm of protest.
A general discharge is not a mark of honor. Other veterans like myself will trust the military's investigation to have been fair. Only ideologues will make a fuss about this. Like the one in the video above.
It is much easier to lean on a few O6s and higher than take your chances with the people making up the report behind closed doors and a court martial or just a court martial.
With 300k and guilt maybe he will take to drink.
ReplyDeleteAs I understand it there are a lot of returning veterans steeped in guilt that turn to drink and who don't have $300K.

ReplyDeleteYou would think that Bergdahl would get a OTH and not a general discharge. My 2 cents.

I disagree about your assessment of Hunt and Shaffer.
It is political that they did not want to convene a court martial. Certainly there is enough smoke
