Ukraine Cuts Power, Cancels Trains To Crimea -- Kyiv Post
Ukraine cut power and cancelled trains to Crimea on Dec. 26, operator companies said in their statements. The peninsular was annexed by Russia in March.
DTEK, a private energy holding that belongs to Ukraine's richest man Rinat Akhmetov, said it was ordered to cut power supplies to Crimea by the national regulator Ukrenergo.
“At 13:50 the transmission power line ... Kakhovskaya- Dzhankoi, which was at this point the only line feeding Crimea, has been switched off by the order of NAK Ukrenergo,” the company said in a statement.
Previously, the company had made short, temporary power cuts in Crimea and other regions due to shortages in production of energy across Ukraine.

wow you predicted this, but it happened earlier than we both thought. Another bad sign in this conflict, I wonder if Russia is going to retaliate? Also no progress in the negotiations other than some hostage swapping. Also the ceasfire is still not stable. That is what I am seing so far in decemeber, but I think this is going to get even worse and pernhaps the war will start again in the spring?

ReplyDeleteIt would have been better to shut it off on March 1st. They waited after Christmas unless Christmas is celebrated mid January around there.
It is a disaster.
Maybe what is needed is fewer generals and more psychologists Who have their own problems & delusions). A federation would be a better way to go and it slips further away.
The Tyrol region in Italy have people unhappy with the semi autonomous status. I have seen a few sporadic reports of unrest over the years. Still it is working. They have their language, culture and no one is dying.
