A Reporter Reflects On His Interview With Syrian President Assad

Jonathan Tepperman, Washington Post: I interviewed Bashar al-Assad about Syria’s civil war. He’s still too delusional to end it.

WNU Editor: A depressing read .... because Jonathan Tepperman just validates (what most of us already know) who Syrian President Assad is. Bottom line .... he is someone who is going to stay as long as possible in his "bunker" .... and he will not leave willingly even when his own supporters are telling him to leave or to step aside for someone else.

  1. A couple of days ago, you had posted the Washington Times story on Hillary and Quafaddi,

where the Plan was to kill Quafaddi, his family too, gut his Government, in the Government house, the bunkers, at home or in exile, just kill, kill, kill,.....

And what ever came next, was what ever came next. no sucession plan.

Do you really think Assad doesn't already know this?

That beyond his death, the US has no plan?

  2. He and his supporters definitely know that they have no options .... especially the non-Sunni part of the country. It is fight or die ... and that is the tragedy of Syria and why this civil war is not going to end this year or next .... or even after that.

  3. He will win or lose as a puppet, for now he can be nothing else regardless of the outcome. Personally I think he'll survive in very straightened circumstances as a creature of Iran and distantly Russia.
