Reuters: Russia may be readying for new Ukraine offensive: NATO commander

(Reuters) - Russia's military may be taking advantage of a recent lull in fighting in eastern Ukraine to lay the groundwork for a new military offensive, NATO's top commander told the U.S. Congress on Thursday.

U.S. Air Force General Philip Breedlove, the NATO supreme allied commander, said Russian forces had been seeking to "reset and reposition" while protecting battlefield gains, despite a fragile ceasefire agreed in February.

"Many of their actions are consistent with preparations for another offensive," Breedlove said.

Pressed during the hearing, Breedlove acknowledged he could not predict Moscow's next move but characterized its ongoing actions as "preparing, training and equipping to have the capacity to again take an offensive."

WNU Editor: NATO supreme allied commander General Breedlove has been asking for additional troops since assuming the post .... so why not scare Congress by saying that Russia will launch an invasion .... while not providing any proof.

  1. WNU Editor,

There's a satirical German site, that tabulated all the NATO, SBU, ATO and Other claims of The Russian Invasion,

Did the math and discovered that they would only all fit in the DPR and LPR,

If you stacked the tanks 2 deep.

Wish I had kept the link.

    1. Anzino,

      Alleged "200" trucks.

According to the SBU, the ATO has killed over 35,000 Russian soldiers in the Ukraine,

And yet, all they have to show for it is 9 passports, 4 Soviet, ( predating 1991)

So, if true, Russia has lost 9 Divisions.

      Do you honestly believe that?

    1. Hamilcar,

You are right, the Russian Invasion is just days or weeks away. the Baltics should bring in full conscription, ready all forces on alert, buy massive amounts of weapons, not that paltry 8% of the economy they are spending,

( in economies that have 1% growth)

And keep them that way until the Russian Invasion is defeated.

Or you know, they collapse like Greece,

  6. Jay,

I merely asked a question about an article that ran. You seem defensive.

There was an article that ran on the mortuary trucks and I believe it ran in WNU.

As I do not speak Russian, remembering he proper Russian name makes it hard to properly word a internet search and pull up the story which I read some time ago. So I was asking for help.

There is a difference between a interrerogative and an assertion.
