Editor's Note

Finishing up on a renovation project on my home today. Blogging will return early this evening.

On a side note I have done something that I have not done in a long time .... I checked this website's stats. WOW!!!! .... a lot of people are now reading this blog, and the audience is global. What can I say but thank-you, I want all of you to know that I am humbled by this recognition.

  7. Anon ....

When I first started this blog I was happy if I had a visitor or two per day, and if I was lucky .... even getting a comment. Over the years .... that has changed.

I have found that my traffic stats are dependent on wars and conflicts breaking out. More wars .... more visitors.
Tuesday's shoot-down of a Russian fighter by Turkey .... 16,000 unique visitors. When Osama Bin Lden was killed I hit over 20,000 unique visitors per day for a week.
Instapundit and Ace of Spades have referred me a few times .... that always guarantees 20,000+ visitors.
I also do not advertise or promote this site. It is all word of mouth (and Google). Type in "War News" on Google, you get over 1 billion results, but this blog is usually on the top.
VICE News war & conflict, Alex Jone's Info-wars, and the BBC section on Wars and conflicts usually follow after me.

But what I found interesting are the visitors to this blog. I have lost count on how many times I have seen someone with a Kremlin or White House web address visiting this site, as well as getting visitors from interesting places like Langley and the equivalent in England and Russia. This blog also has a global audience, but the U.S. still accounts for about 40% of my traffic.

I have also received email from some well known personalities ... in politics, the military, and from the world of entertainment who have a need to comment on this or that. Russian Deputy PM Dmitry Rogozin, actor Kevin Spacey, Ret. General McChrystal to name a few.

I should also add that I do not make any serious money from this blog, and what little that I do make from Google ads is treated as my coffee money. No political party, news organization, government agency, or special interest group pays me. I have been offered jobs from well known think tanks and foreign policy institutions in Washington (and in Moscow) .... but I have refused them because it would mean relocating to those cities on a permanent basis. I like where I live (Montreal), and I visit Moscow at least two times a year (I also have a home there)

In closing .... this blog is being done because I love doing it ... and according to Google I have done 69,000 posts, and I am fast approaching my 20,000,000 page view count.

When I hit 100,000,000 web page views .... that is when I will probably make the decision to be serious about this blog. :)
