Islamic State's Oil Infrastructure Are Now Priority Targets For Russia's Bombing Campaign

RT: ‘Commercial scale’ oil smuggling into Turkey becomes priority target of anti-ISIS strikes

Islamic State’s daring and impudent oil smuggling into Turkey should become a high-priority target in order to cripple the terrorist group, President Putin said, backed by French President Francois Hollande. Both agree that the source of terrorist financing must be hit first and foremost.

Commercial-scale oil smuggling from Islamic State controlled territory into Turkey must be stopped, Putin said after meeting Hollande in Moscow.

“Vehicles, carrying oil, lined up in a chain going beyond the horizon,” said Putin, reminding the press that the scale of the issue was discussed at the G20 summit in Antalya earlier this month, where the Russian leader demonstrated reconnaissance footage taken by Russian pilots.

WNU Editor: Russia has now realized how important this oil infrastructure is to the Islamic State's finances. The fact that much of this oil goes to Turkey is probably an added bonus for these Russian pilots when they do their bombing runs. On a side note .... a German journalist who visited the Islamic State last year pointed out what would be necessary to defeat the Islamic State, and one of his recommendations was to close the Syrian - Turkey border .... Journalist who returned from Islamic State HQ tells RT how jihadists can be defeated (RT). it took a while, but it looks like that is Russia's strategy right now.

  4. fazman,
"Makes you wonder just what the hell the coalition has been doing for the past year." I think it has been known to most everyone. There are probably a lot of angry people who want to talk, but are afraid for one reason or another to do it until they feel safe enough.

  5. The liveral progressive movement in the West consider the environmental impact before destroying a target don't forget that climate change is the number one priority period.
France next week is hosting a huge convention on clime a change . And I bet my money on it, this people is going to try to come out with the form of regulation that will allow them to charge ,climate change deniers with criminal charges .

  6. Not only is the environmental impact considered, you nailed it "climate change" is the number one priority or at least among the top three for the US government, also "collateral damage" has to be considered. If there is "collateral damage" the media goes bonkers with rage against the United States and its "allies." Additionally the military forces involved risk military tribunals for "collateral damage."

Russia and its allies do not have to face such things. In addition to having the world's best military as Russia has, this makes things far less complicated for them.

While there would be huge trust issues that would need to be overcome in order to implement such a policy, it seems if we were to place American forces under the command of Russia we might get better results. Additionally being closer to Russia might help us in dealing with Iran as well. Again, there would be huge trust issues that would need to be overcome as both sides likely have good reason not to totally trust each other.
